Have you
ever thought about how a consumer takes a decision of buying something? Well,
let’s understand buying decision process by taking example of shirt. Humans buy so many things; do you know why did
they need to buy so many things?
The answer
is simple “human buy many things because humans have problems” yes unless
there is no problem there is no need to buy anything. So the Identification of Problem is First Stage in consumer buying process.
Buyer
identifies his problem and selectsthe commodity which can
satisfy his problem. In our example a buyer have problem that what should he
wear for job interview. So he understandhe need to ware formal shirt.
Thus it
create need for formal shirt , then buyer decides his budget. That is Second
Stage ,Creation / Generation Of
Need And Deciding a Budget.
once need is
generated and budget is decided the buyer start searching information about
that product, like producer, quality, brand, comfortableness of product, etc he
get all that information from Internet, Others reviews, Own experience, News
paper, Advertisement, etc. We can say it is Third Stage named Information
Search. In our example buyer collect information from others review,
friends suggestion and by internet.
With all
that information collected a buyer analyses
all the options available and decides which formal shirt he should buy.
This analyses can be done on the basis of buyers budget, quality, comfort,
utility of product, durability, reviews and brand. In our example buyer select
XYZ brands formal shirts to buy on the basis of all these criteria. Hence it is
our Fourth Stage, named Analysis Of Options.
Now at last
buyer go to various shops to get best deal, he even try to buy products online
and find best dealer who will provide him a product which will satisfy his
need. At the end he purchase a product this is Last Stage called Buying
a Product. In our example buyer finally buys a formal shirt of XYZ brand
from a mall.
